Anti Social Behaviour

Postby Mark » Thu Jul 08, 2010 11:08 pm

So - this evening I was minding my own business, and I heard this crackling sound coming from our back alleyway. Obviously I recognised the sound of flames licking around whatever was on fire and proceeded to peer over the wall at the end of our garden, into the back alley. Not surprisingly I saw a group of bored teenagers laughing and watching the rapidly expanding carpet fire outside my garden boundary in the alleyway. Sofas and armchairs had been deposited the previous night - an open invite for teen entertainment!

So they boy, aged 15, who I recognised, ducked down, ran away, as did all the others.
I made my way to the alleyway and my wife called the fire brigade to put out the rapidly spreading fire.

The fire brigade arrived and put out the fire and I paid a visit to the home of the offending teenager. See attached picture.

What followed was a denial of offending events by the teenager and defending mother. Followed quickly by a threat to burn my house down if I called the police, which, needless to say, I did.

Not wanting to give way to bullies, I have reported it to the police and anti social behaviour team.

Watch this space for an update of the British justice system at work in all its glory. The police are coming round tomorrow evening to take a full statement, and I will persue this as far as I can to send a clear message!

Cheers for now.

Police came round and must have asked me at least 3 times if I really wanted them to go and chat to the young person about his threat, as it might "rile him". Der! So i repeated my request to have a police officer chat to the person. Needless to say everything was denied and there was nothing the police could do. I had no "witnesses" and he had two witnesses!

Redbridge cleared the sofa, armchairs and carpet the next day - excellent service!
We've agreed to be civil and nothing will be done unless there's another incident.

Let's just hope I haven't "riled him".
Wouldn't want to "rile him" would I?

Perhaps having you camera to hand in case you have any more problems could resolve the 'no witness' issue?

Good grief - are you trying to get the poor bloke killed? Taking photos would, no doubt, "rile" the little b****r so much that he'd feel compelled to beat up Mark and break his camera. This mad world being the way it currently is, the oik would then probably be able to claim that taking his picture was a breach of his human rights and collect thousands of pounds in compensation ....

I'm allowed to install a security camera overlooking my property, which includes my 2 x 4 metre bit of the shared alleyway! :D
